                                                  FISHING ON THE USK

This is a great trip, whether you are a fisherman or not, it is certainly relaxing. We assume that you have not brought your rod and tackle with you, so we supply everything you will need for your trip, rods, bait, net, tent even sleeping bag if you do not have one. You can also stay at our house with the horse riders. Like all our trips we pick you up at Ealing common tube at 6:30pm on Friday and supply everything including food. If you are a beginner you will be given tuition from our resident local fisherman.

This is great fun trip to take your mates on.

The type of fishing you do is totally your choice, fly is usually the favourite. Types of fish in the Usk are Salmon, brown trout, rainbow trout, roach, chub.

At night you can keep fishing or party around the fire/Braai.

Trout Fishing
The best times for trout fishing are mid March to late June and mid August until the season closes at the end of September. Nymph fishing in the pools and glides is effective during the mornings, but once the hatches start, the dry fly is great fun and very productive. But move stealthily, for these wild trout are easily spooked and rarely allow you a second chance if you startle them with a sudden move or clumsy cast.

Salmon Fishing
The Usk still gets a good spring run of salmon most years. Late March to the end of May are the best months for those seeking a silver springer. Fish between 20 and 30 pounds are not unheard of, even nowadays, and in the not too distant past we have had springers approaching 40 pounds - a test for both the angler and the tackle. Bait fishing and spinning with a weighted Devon or an Irish minnow account for many spring fish, but with the advent of fast sinking leaders more anglers are finding spring sport with fly fishing tackle.

  And yes things do get silly, could naked fishing catch on, who knows !!! only tiddlers were being caught on this trip.

The price is £155 and includes transport from London, all food, your own tent or bed, fishing licence, rod and all fishing equipment, Bait. some complimentary beer also included.

The are no hidden extras.  Please remember that 95% of fish are caught by 5% of fisherman, so we can guarantee that you will catch anything, its all down to your skill, luck,  the weather and if the fish are biting on that day.
